Russian Gold Jewellery Production Up 23 Percent in 8 Months

Russian jewellers produced 10.52 million pieces of gold jewelry goods (26.1 tonnes) in the first eight months of 2002, up 23.3 percent year-on-year.

According to Interfax, Jewelers produced 6.6 million silver pieces (33.73 tonnes), up 13. percent% year-on-year.

Russia produced 12,918 pieces of platinum jewellery totalling 68.66 kilograms, compared with 11,773 pieces and 55.2 kilograms in the first eight months of 2001, and 250 pieces of palladium jewellery totalling 0.569 kilograms (164 pieces and 1.9 kilograms)
